No Euro Vision for this Year - Courtesy of Coronavirus

As expected, the Euro Vision Song Festival, the big celebration of European Music was canceled. The show was originally planned to be held in Rotterdam, Nederlands during May 2020. But, organizers announced the full canceling of this year's show.

Another great event that is well-known for its positive messages and great satisfaction for the public needs to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic crisis. To be honest, I was surprised why such a decision was not taken before. Considering that we've seen the cancellations of many other continental events such as EURO 2020 scheduled for June.

The delay came after the efforts of the Euro Vision organizing committee to find alternative ways to hold the festival. But, the limitations coming from the pandemic crisis made it impossible for the event to happen this year.

Here is what was announced by the Euro Vision team:

 "The health of artists, staff, fans, and visitors, as well as the situation in the Netherlands, Europe, and the world, is at the heart of this decision. Dutch restrictions on gatherings of large numbers of people and international travel restrictions mean that holding the event, even without an audience, is impossible.  

It's in the DNA of the Eurovision Song Contest to bring delegations, artists and fans together in one place and provide an equal platform for all artists to compete together on the same stage. We felt that under the extreme circumstances we face this year, organizing the Eurovision Song Contest in another way would not be in keeping with our values and the tradition of the event."

Yes, my friends. 2020 spring will be without the Euro Vision Song Contest. There are lots of questions raised and not yet clarified regarding the next edition of the festival. But, there is a long year ahead for all the details to be clarified. 

It seems that coronavirus is eating up all the good things we've worked so hard to have in our lives. But I'm sure, as the euro song team emphasized, Euro Vision will come back stronger than ever.
