The news coming from Italy these days is really scary. Several hundred people are dying and thousands of new people diagnosed positive with coronavirus daily. The most terrible fact, in my opinion, doctors there are replacing God, by choosing whom to cure in the hospitals and whom to let die at home.
Sounds unbelievable to hear such news for a rich country like Italy. Already listed as number 2 country most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, Italy is letting the rest of the world sleepless.
The number of deaths caused by coronavirus has reached to 1,809 people. While the country has more than 20,000 citizens diagnosed positive with coronavirus. The situation is completely out of control. Medical staff is exhausted and scared of the huge number of infected people and long working hours. The technical capacity of hospitals is already overpassed and the scenes we see in the news are those of World World II. Patients sitting in the hospital corridors and in improvised tents outside. Scared faces wondering what the hell is going on.
It is unbelievable to see the Italian Health System failing so successfully in front of the novel coronavirus. I recall in the past so many people telling me, full of enthusiasm, about the fantastic health system in Italy. Indeed, it was needed a small virus and a lack of collaboration from Italian citizens to make the system kneel within several days. I'm sure many health sector leaders and government leaders are wondering for the worst for their countries following the Italian scenario for the crisis.
Italy is now under restricted quarantine, hoping to start to control the paste of the virus spread. The government is requesting volunteers, medical staff, from abroad to cope with the situation. A group of physicians from China and Venezuela has already entered into force. Other thousands of volunteers have applied to help the Italian physicians in their war with the virus.

It is due to unacceptable Italian public behavior that all other countries affected by the pandemic crisis are engaging quite strong quarantine measures for the population. Many European countries have closed schools, public offices, bars, and restaurants, have canceled artistic and sports activities, have closed passenger traveling and other drastic measures. Italy has the same restrictions in place, but they were enforced later than needed.
Let us all pray for Italy and Italian people. Let God help them overcome this terrific crisis. Our thoughts are for people who are suffering and the heroes of this war, medical staff in the first line.
