Russian Lady found her "dead" Sister after 78 years

Rosalina and Yulia were only 16 and 14 years old when they saw each other for the last time. And, were needed 78 long years for the two sisters to meet again.

Their separation story started during the Second World War, at the time of the Battle of Stalingrad (Y1942). Rosalina was working at the time at a tank factory, a secret workplace. Even though the work rules required full confidentiality, she decided to break the rules and to disclose to her family information about her workplace.

Nazi army bombed the tank factory and at the time her mother and one of her sisters went there, they found the building completely ruined on the ground. Some people there told them that Rosalina died from the bombing. They accepted that information for truth and suffered the loss of Rosalina for years. Soon after the Battle of Stalingrad, the remaining part of the family (Yulia, her mother, and another sister) was evacuated to Soviet Central Asia.

What happened to Rosalina?

The workers of the tank factory were very valuable for the Russian army, so they were moved from the factory only some minutes before the bombing. A big boat sent them to another tank factory in another secret place, Chelyabinsk in the Urals, far away from Stalingrad.

After the war, Rosalina kept searching for her family, but she could not find any of her siblings or parents. Then, she created her own family and kept living all her life in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Two sisters at the time they got separated

How did the Sisters found each - other?

The beauty of living at technological developments and the internet era is that people can reach each other much easier. Yulia asked her daughter to check at a Russian website seeking to reunite war-divided families. She hoped to find her brother Yury, who went to the front together with their father. Her daughter told that there was a woman named Rosa, who was looking for her. You might imagine her surprise when the son of Rosalina confirmed that she was the sister she thought died in 1942.

The meeting

The meeting was arranged after confirmations of police officers that they have family relationships. Then, Yulia the younger sister (92 years old), traveled by train a very long trip to meet Rosalinda (94 years old).

Their meeting was incredible! Two old women met after a very long time, crying and laughing at the same time. That meeting was the best panorama of the miracle of family. 78 years apart, they regenerated their ties through family memories. Rosalina heard the sad fate of her mother, who died for hungry. She learned that her other sister, Galina succumbed to typhoid. And, she found out that both her father and brother never came back from the frontline.

I think this is the most wonderful present life made to Russian sisters and their children. Such stories reinforce the life lesson that hope is the last one to die.
