The Funny Paradox in the Mexican-American Border

Coronavirus is definitely turning things ups and down. At least this is what is happening in the Mexican - American border. Mexicans ask for the closure of the border for US citizens not to allow for coronavirus to spread in their country. 

As the USA is ranked Number 1 country affected by coronavirus pandemic (with more than 100,000 infected people), its neighbor countries are worried about this situation. And, as an irony of fate, after so many rejections and obscenities made directly by the US President, Donald Trump, it's time for Mexican people to pay him back.

A group of Mexican protesters in Sonora has blocked the Deconcini checkpoint for several hours. The protesters wore medical face masks and had in their hands some banners saying "Stay at Home". They asked the Mexican President to take measures to enforce the banning of the border for US residents.     

"No more people from the US to cross the Mexican border" was their main message. They asked to stop immediately tourists and other people traveling for medical purposes or work. In this banning should be included even the Mexicans who go to the US for schooling.

The terror of coronavirus spread has made people sensitive to their well-being. And this time is the Mexican people that want to stop the infection rolling to their country. They want to avoid huge health problems, similar to what we are seeing in most affected countries. 

I don't know if the US President will hear about their protest, but I think this is a very funny paradox caused by coronavirus crisis. Suddenly, the positions are exchanged and today the US is considered the source of problems and is rejected by their neighbors.

I hope the protesters managed to respect the 1.5 m distance,😉 the number one advice to avoid coronavirus spread. And, secondly to have washed their hands at the end of the protest, as they were very closed to a highly infected country 😨.

It sounds crazy and unrealistic, but coronavirus has made it. If it's one reason for existing was to disturb life on earth, Yes this is done. As we speak sport, entertainment, and hospitality activities are fully out of function.

"Closed", "Postponed", "Cancelled" are the words we hear and read all the time these days. And, I'm talking about very important international activities. Activities that give sense to the life of billions of people around the globe.

Activities stopped by Coronavirus 

Allow me to mentioned some of the victims of COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis:

• Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020

Life in Coronavirus Time 

Life is pretty simple right now. The focus is only on basic needs. The rest should be waiting for when the crisis will be over. Oh yeah, the $1 million question: When life is going to be normal again?

I only hear experts about this query. Many of them, the ones I call optimists, think the isolation period should last around 5 - 6 weeks. Some others speak for 4 - 6 months, and I hate hearing such a thing 😡😷. Most health experts think COVID-19 will be back in September for the Northern Hemisphere's countries.

In other words, 2020 will the a year full of uncertainties. All plans made will remain hanging on the air, waiting for the situation to turn normal. At best all 2020 plans will be modified to fit with the COVID-19 situation and its consequences.     

I believe we should remain positive and optimistic. COVID-19 pandemic crisis will come to an end soon. Each of us can give a helpful contribution by following the rules of social distancing and personal hygiene. Let's stay in our houses to break the chain of infection spread. Lack of physical contact is the best solution for reducing the longevity of the coronavirus crisis.

Strange Way to exploit Coronavirus in US

The recent days. I've heard many conspiracy theories about coronavirus. The most famous ones are those that consider coronavirus to be a biological weapon, produced in a laboratory. To be honest, I never believed such theories. They are mostly driven by movies and phantasy of people.

But, it seems that some people in the USA have taken this idea very seriously. They are members of extremist and neo-nazi groups. And, they are planning to use coronavirus as a tool to infect as many police officers and Jews. Crazy, not?!

FBI has explained that they are asking members to use spray bottles with body fluids infected with COVID-19. "Attack with spray as many police officers and Jews, where ever they gather." is the motto of their action. Quite a malignant thought!

I am curious to know how do they find the infected fluids. Do they get sick voluntarily? Do they hunt already infected people? I don't know, but I hope the FBI will be able to counteract their plans and not allow coronavirus to be used as a biological weapon. 

Imagine how tragic would be to have an additional spread of the virus from extremists. It is like you transform the virus into a bullet for physicians, who are fighting in the first line with the disease, and with enormous sacrifices. The medical staff has been infected on a moderate scale by the coronavirus. And this adds to their hard work and difficulties fighting a novel virus.

Isolation at home and social distancing are 2 ways to avoid such use of coronavirus. If we respect these rules in our daily routine, there is little room from a massive spread. But, if we continue to gather in social events and public places, we add the chances for the fast spread of the virus. Remember the Korean case when 46 people were infected with the virus during a religious ceremony. They used one single spray bottle for all believers present, causing infection to most of them. Quite a sad lesson learned, which is used wisely by Catholic Pope Francesco, by canceling all religious ceremonies before Easter.

What can I say? There is nothing more stimulating in life, rather than seeing how mean people could become even in extreme situations. But, I'm sure we shall all get through this pandemic crisis stronger and better.

No Fear at all from 'Deadly Virus' in Californian Beaches

The USA is ranked, for the second day in the row, the country with the highest number of new cases. But, it seems this is not a piece of disturbing news for many people in California State and some other southern states. People gathered on the beaches during the past weekend, standing in big groups and next to each other. A very similar view to what happened in Miami some days ago.

It is unbelievable to see such unresponsible behavior from such a big number of people. They are either uninformed or do not trust authorities. Might be they do not want to believe what they hear every day about huge problems caused in other countries by coronavirus crisis.

Or, probably they believe in their immune system too much. Who knows, they are probably the healthiest people in the world. What else can I say, it is crazy!

My fellow Americans, be attentive! Do not underestimate the ability of coronavirus to strongly influence your life. It is a deadly virus. It can spread very quickly. And, does not make any difference to the kind of people infected. 

Many of us believe this is a dangerous disease only for older people and sick people. It is not true! Last night I heard the news of a 43 years old man who died from coronavirus. He was not sick, but only obese. And, he died in the hospital from a respiratory crisis. Doctors could not save him from death.

Today is time to self-isolate in our houses to protect our health. It's time to spend more quality time with our families. It's time to be responsible citizens and follow the rules set by authorities. Summer is ahead of us and we shall have plenty of time to enjoy time at the beach and in recreational parks.

I've been isolated in my flat for 2 weeks now. And, I must say it is not the best period of my life. But, it is bearable as long as the purpose is beneficial for my health and other people around me. This is the only way to fight against this terrible virus. Cheers!

Coronavirus Crisis - Mortgage Loans to be Rescheduled

Coronavirus pandemic crisis is causing huge economic problems in affected countries. One of the problems is loan repayments, especially mortgage loans. Homeowners, who have a mortgage loan and have lost their income due to isolation rules, today are facing a big concern. Are they going to lose their homes?

It seems that the USA has found a solution to this problem. Federal regulators have planned to influence mortgage lenders to offer to this category of homeowners the possibility to re-schedule loan payments. Their proposal is to offer up to 12 months of a grace period on mortgage payments.

How the mechanism will work?

It will start with the two mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which cover almost half of mortgage loans in the USA. They are ordering lenders to offer such flexibility to homeowners directly affected by coronavirus crisis.

Each borrower has to call its lender and to work out a new payment schedule, based on the particular individual situation. It is not clear when the papers will be signed, but it will probably happen after the isolation period comes to an end.

Each borrower who will undergo the procedure of mortgage re-scheduling, will not be considered a delinquent will not be registered as a bad borrower at the credit register. 

A great plan, I believe, that will release from additional stress many Americans in these difficult times.

What about people who Rent their Houses?

But, there is another category of citizens not covered by this plan: the renters. Again we are talking about people who lost their jobs due to the crisis. Are they going to be left homeless on the street? It sounds very ironic to see people getting out of their houses, exactly at the time when authorities are strongly requesting people to stay inside their homes.

Let's hope a new solution will be produced for renters as well. And, other countries will follow the USA example to not forget social problems caused to people by the terrific coronavirus crisis.

The Irresponsible Behavior of People in Sydney

It was incredible to see so many people frequenting yesterday the Bondi beach in Sydney, Australia. Even though authorities have warned the population regarding the growing risk of coronavirus pandemic in the country, many of them decided to spend a nice day on the beach.

It is strange to me to see how people go to a crowded beach in the middle of the coronavirus crisis. It is uncommon to see the Bondi beach so crowded even in normal conditions. The only exceptions are on any huge organized party beach or national holidays. What are Australians celebrating these days? The ending of summer? Or the beginning of coronavirus isolation? Why are they flowing at the beaches ignoring the social distancing rule?

Seeing this fact with the eyes of an isolated person (for two weeks now), I think they wanted to enjoy the beach one more time before everything shuts down. Or, they just followed the stupid example of US students who massively gathered in Miami beaches to celebrate the Spring holidays. 

The good news is that NSW and city authorities interfered with the forceful removal of everyone in Bondi beach. Since yesterday, the famous Bondi beach is closed to the public. Another warning came from authorities for closure of all beaches in Sydney in case a situation like this is repeated.

Sydney inhabitants are reflecting the fear from coronavirus with the empty shelves at the supermarkets and the now-common toilet-paper crisis. But it sounds stupid to take the measures to isolate at home and then, go to a crowded beach, losing any social distancing. I hope such irresponsible behavior will not cost them lots of pain, such as the ones we are seeing in Europe these days.

I believe the coronavirus crisis is reflecting the real problems in today's societies. People do not trust and respect authorities and consider personal freedom to be more important than death itself. There is little sense of solidarity in the mass population and people do not have the habit to think for the big picture. In the end, people are not smart enough to learn from other nations' stories. Such a sad moment!

Australia Facts about Coronavirus

As of today, Australia has 1,286 infected people (ranking number 18 out of 188 countries), 7 deaths, 2 cases in a critical situation and 46 people healed. But, the disturbing figure is the number of new cases diagnosed positive with coronavirus. In the last 24 hours were diagnosed 214 new cases and the trend seems to be going up.

Unique Brazilian Way to show Solidarity for the Terrific Crisis

The famous Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil has offered a spectacular view yesterday. The statue was covered with flags of all countries actually affected by the coronavirus pandemic crisis. It is an unusual vision that impressed me significantly. I felt like Jesus has opened his arms to hold the pain and suffering of all countries affected. I felt somehow protected and not alone while being locked in my own house.

I hope as many people could see this photo. Especially the ones whose lifestyle has changed tremendously these days. They need to feel some divine hope right inside their houses. They need to understand they are not alone. They need such a thing to release their pain and fears caused by the unusual situation with coronavirus. They need to know we are all together in this huge challenge for humanity and will get through it.   

But, Brazilians added one more element to their solidarity and hope message. The same statue was projected than with the phrase "Pray Together" in various languages.

The Real Spirit of Solidarity and Love for Each - Other

It is impressive what is happening with some distilleries in the USA. The country is facing a situation when due to coronavirus spread there is a shortage of hand sanitizers in the market. And, this fact is pushing many distilleries there to shift their production focus into producing alcohol-based hand sanitizers. 

It all started from a civic discontent of Chad Butters, the owner of "Eight Oaks Farm Distillery" in Pennsylvania, USA. He felt angry seeing how many extortionists are making the hand sanitizers' prices skyrocket. So, he decided to start the production of hand sanitizers in his factory and offer them for charity. As soon as the first 20 bottles were ready, they were offered to people with the price: "Whatever the people decide to donate". 

Chad is planning to expand hand sanitizers' production in an attempt to bring the price down to normal.

“We are in a national emergency,” he said. “What’s the right thing to do? The right thing to do is support this community by providing something that is in desperate need. We’ll flood the valley with hand sanitizer and drive that price right down.”

Following his example, other distilleries in the US are shifting toward the production of hand sanitizers as well. Apart from the contribution aspect, they see such a move as a way to keep their employees in at a time when most of their liquors would not sell as their main customers, bars, and restaurants are temporarily closing down due to coronavirus crisis. 

Hand Sanitizers 

This is the typical case when something started with purely good intentions turns out to be a win-win-win solution for everyone involved. Market demand is filled for so-demanding hand sanitizers - prices of the product will come back to normal - distilleries continue their work filling in a new revenue stream. 

In times like this, we need more and more examples of solidarity and love for each other. I hope this "how to help my community" way of thinking continues to practice even in normal times. God knows how much we need solidarity in the middle of a very competing life in all aspects.

Coronavirus Crisis hits Life in the Sin City

It is Las Vegas turn to adapt to the coronavirus era. MGM Resorts International announced the closure of its facilities in Las Vegas. Starting March 17, 2020, no services will be offered to either casino or hotel of the giant group in the Sin City.

The official announcement of the group mentioned:

"Despite our commitment to dedicating additional resources for cleaning and promoting good health, while making difficult decisions to close certain aspects of our operations, it is now apparent that this is a public health crisis that requires major collective action if we are to slow its progression.

Accordingly, we will close all of our Las Vegas properties as of Tuesday, March 17, for the good of our employees, guests, and communities. This is a time of uncertainty across our country and the globe and we must all do our part to curtail the spread of this virus. We will plan to reopen our resorts as soon as it safe to do so and we will continue to support our employees, guests, and communities in every way that we can during this period of closure.”

MGM Grand in Las Vegas has opened 27 years ago and this is the first time they close their doors for customers. But, Las Vegas facilities are not the only ones the MGM Resorts are closing due to coronavirus pandemic. Other restaurants, buffets, and hotels of the group in the USA will suffer the same destiny as Las Vegas ones. 

At the same time, other operators in Las Vegas are planning to temporarily suspend their operations, in responding to the new situation created by the terrible virus.  

Coronavirus crisis is not sparing any place at all. It seems that the next months are going to be living under restrictions and without entertainment. It sounds unreal the transformation this little virus is imposing on the whole world. And Las Vegas, the Sin City, could not be an exception.

One more Critical Damage caused by the 'Famous' Coronavirus

While everyone in Europe is seeing China as a source of hope and positive inspiration on how to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians there have introduced a disturbing theory. It is actually a piece of bad news for all male patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

After understanding the DNA of the virus, Chinese physicians believe the novel coronavirus can damage the testicles of infected male patients. Their theory is based on the structure the virus uses to invade human cells. Thus, coronavirus uses a protein named 'S protein' to bind with the ACE2 element of the cells. This is the main way it uses to invade the lungs' cells.

Testicles are known to have a good amount of ACE2, and Chinese physicians do consider the risk of testicle damage. Thus, it is theoretically speculated that the coronavirus infection may cause testicular damage, affecting sperm production and androgen synthesis. Male fertility could be put under question, with worse cases causing male infertility and diminishment of sexual potency. This is the reason physicians are asking all healed male patients in China to perform additional tests regarding their sexual health.     

Let's hope this will remain an unproven theory. Otherwise, men around the world should take very seriously the protection measures against coronavirus.
