The Fantastic Seal - An Unusual Researcher in Arctic

Science contributors are always special and dedicated beings. This year, a very unusual researcher was seen in the Arctic waters. It was a hardworking Elephant Seal, who swam for three months in Arctic currents.

The goal of its work was to collect data on ocean temperatures. And our seal, in its unique hat, did excellently complete this work. The data collected from her trip did supply the group of scientists with new data never collected before.

Such data are changing previous theories about ocean temperatures. The seal showed that ocean waters are warmer at the deep part and cooler near the surface. While everyone thought that the situation was the opposite one (oceans were warmer at the surface and colder in depth).

Thanks to our elephant seal, scientists and decision-makers can make better decisions for a safer future of marine fauna.
